Stewart Adams, MD

Adams Dermatology

Dr. Adams was born in Georgetown, Guyana in the Caribbean. He lived there until his family moved to Saskatchewan - for the weather, they joke! He began his academic career at the University of Saskatchewan, completing his B.Sc. in 1981 and moving on to medical school at the same institution, where he also met his wife. He graduated with distinction and then moved to Edmonton to begin his five-year dermatology residency.

Dr. Adams is affiliated with the Foothills Hospital, Peter Lougheed Hospital and Red Deer Regional Hospital. For the last five years he has done bimonthly clinics in Red Deer until the city could finally secure its own dermatologist. He also makes house calls to most of the nursing homes in the city. Dr. Adams is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Adams is very active in medical education in Alberta. He teaches at the University of Calgary Medical School and Continuing Medical Education Department, he works with students and residents in his office and is a Preceptor for Dermatology Residents at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. As well as his regular publications, he regularly published "Dermacases" for continuing education for the Canadian Family Physician. Dr. Adams is also actively involved in several dermatology studies. He is also the Prairie Representative for the Canadian Dermatology Association Board of Directors.

In his spare time, Dr. Adams is an avid squash player, and enjoys all that Southern Alberta has to offer with camping in the summer and skiing in the winter. He is the proud father of three children.
